Is Rote Workspace free?
Yes. Rote Workspace is free to use, with no sign-up and no credit card. Rote Assistant's pricing will be announced at launch.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and no sign-in. Workflows you save are kept in your own browser.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Rote Workspace processes your selected files locally in your browser, and file contents are not uploaded to our servers for processing. The website still loads its pages and counts anonymous visits, as the privacy page explains.
Which file formats are supported?
CSV, TSV and other delimited text files up to 50 MB, in UTF-8, UTF-16 or Windows-1252, and Excel .xlsx workbooks up to 10 MB, one sheet at a time.
Can I reuse my steps on next week's file?
Yes. Every fix you make becomes a step. Save the steps as a workflow in your browser or download it as a small file, then open next week's file and run it. Rote Workspace checks first that the columns the steps need are still there.
Will it change my original file?
No. Every change is previewed, and the result is a new file you download. The file you opened is never written to.
What is Rote Assistant?
The desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux. It works with files on your computer and runs your saved jobs by hand, on a schedule or when a file lands in a folder. It is launching soon — get early access to hear the moment it's ready.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
No. Rote Workspace reads and processes your files inside your browser; their contents are not sent to our servers. Rote Assistant is a desktop application that works on files on your own disk — no server is involved at all.
Will it change my original file?
No. Every change is previewed first, and the result is a new file. The file you opened is never written to.
Do I need to know formulas or scripting?
No. You choose the operations you want and see the result. There is nothing to write and no command line.
Does it use AI?
No, and it does not need to. RoteRun runs the operations you chose, in the order you chose them, so the same file gives the same result every time.
Does it open Excel files?
Yes. Rote Workspace opens Excel .xlsx workbooks up to 10 MB, one sheet at a time, and CSV, TSV and text files up to 50 MB. Rote Assistant reads Excel too, and can write results as CSV, Excel, JSON, XML or HTML.
Can it run automatically, on a schedule?
In Rote Workspace you run a saved workflow yourself, in one click. Rote Assistant, the desktop app, runs saved jobs daily, weekly or monthly, or whenever a new or changed file lands in a folder.
Which platforms does it run on?
Rote Workspace runs in a desktop browser, with nothing to install; it is tested in Google Chrome. Rote Assistant is launching soon for Windows, macOS and Linux.
